WHO IS CHALK?

Hi! It's lovely to meet you, I'm Lauren :)

Born and raised in beautiful Brisbane, I am the proud Mumma of two gorgeous kids, two slobbery bulldogs and two very loved purr-machines. Together with my amazing hubby, those 6 little beings form my tribe and are at the heart of all I do.

Having started photography about 10 years ago, I have always loved capturing love. No matter how many weddings, engagements, couples or families that I shoot, I still get tingles and goose bumps when I see magic sparking in front of my lens. I also love helping new or inspiring photographers and as such have been teaching photography classes and workshops for many years. I truly adore photography and can gush on about it for hours and hours on end, so if ever you have a day or so free, lets chat!

I am a firm believer that all love deserves to be recognised and celebrated. I am also a firm believer in my couples having the freedom to be themselves - I am up for anything it takes to tell your story, your way. Does this mean we'll end up dancing in a field, running through a city in a rainstorm or shooting in a moody bar while you drink a glass of bubbles? Maybe, bring it on! That also means that I'm likely to end up on the dancefloor with you come the end of the day, camera in hand capturing the real party vibes :)

The final important thing to know about me is why I do this. Quite simply, I do it because I know the true value of time, of family, and of love. Days slip through our fingers so quickly and no matter how hard we try, we just can't get them back. I hope that each and every one of my images provide a way for you to step back in time and to re-live the moments that matter. I want my images to take you back to the exact way you felt when you held hands with your best friend and promised to love them forever, I want my images to provide you with a portal that lets you remember the feeling of celebrating with your family, of dancing with your love, of being surrounded by all the people that mean the most.

The final, final thing to know about me? I'm unabashedly and unashamedly a great big, fun loving, gooey romantic :)

Some of my favourite things:

Coffee. Oh my, how I love my coffee.
Dogs. And cats. And wombats. Okay, pretty much every single animal you can think of except frogs. I'm sorry but those little guys freak me out.
How I Met Your Mother (if you can quote anything from this show we'll instantly become friends for life)
Travel. I don't care where too, give me the chance to go exploring and I will take it!
Pavlova. And cheesecake. And cheese. And wine. Mmmmmmm.
Photography (I know I know, this kind of goes without saying but if I didn't put it in you would wonder, yes?!)
Nature - put me in a field, on a mountain or in the ocean and I'll be happy.

Oh oh oh! There is something else! People often ask me, why "Chalk" Photography? Well, that goes back to me being sentimental. For my whole life, my creative endeavours seemed to begin with chalk. From drawing out on my water tank as a kid, sketching in art classes at school and right on through to my first official "grown up" job as a Primary School teacher, chalk always seemed to be there, front and centre. So, when I followed my dream of becoming a Wedding Photographer it only seemed fitting to bring Chalk along for the journey.
